Day 3 - Moreton Island to Noosa Heads

Kids got up early today and Mel made everyone pancakes. Then I took the kids outside with Julia while Mel packed up all the bags since we would be checking out of Tangalooma today.

They wind was gone so the day was hotter than the previous day and we spent most of the morning just hanging out on the beach and playing in the sand. Maddie and Cooper still weren’t crazy about the sand, but seem to be getting better at dealing with it.

After checking out of the room Mel, Wyatt, Cooper and I decided to go swimming while Julia and Maddie went for a walk with Wyatt’s stroller.

After the swim we had a quick lunch at the café and headed over to the pier to catch the 2 pm ferry. An hour ride later we were back at the wharf and into our taxi headed to downtown Brisbane. We picked up our rental van and packed in all our gear and were on the road by 4:30 pm.

Our next stop from Brisbane was Noosa Heads. We had varying estimates on the driving time from 1.5 hours to 3 hours and made the mistake of promising Wyatt we would stop at a McDonalds for dinner. We were hoping we could make it to Noosa before dinner time and thus had to content with Wyatt pointing out every “Old McDonalds” on the way. We had to come up with reasons not to stop at each of them….that one is closed…that one doesn’t have a playland…that one is too small…etc…he only missed spotting one the whole way.

We got to Noosa at around 6:30 and could not find another McDonalds so ended up eating in a local restaurant with a small kids play area. Luckily Wyatt didn’t seem to care that it wasn’t Old McDonands so we got away with one.

Finally we checking into out accommodations here . It’s a huge three bedroom apartment and seems great so far. Haven’t seen it or the town in the light yet so we’ll give a better update tomorrow.

Our plan for tomorrow is to back track a bit and go to the Australia Zoo. This is the Zoo that Steve Irwin started ( the late Crocodile Hunter ). It should be about a 45 minute drive back the way we came but since we drove it in the dark coming in it will also give us a chance to see the scenery we missed the first time.

p.s. Noose is the traffic circle capital of Australia and possibly the world. More to come on this…
